Vol. 477 No. 7

Written Answers. - Herd Numbers.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

163 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will review the case of a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath who wishes to obtain a herd number; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there is a fully documented case made for this request, in relation to earlier agricultural background and current circumstances; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10306/97]

I understand the person in question does not at present meet the criteria for being granted a herd number particularly in regard to independent management and equipment and intermixing with animals from another herd. However, in the event of changed circumstances on the holding it is open to the person in question to reapply in the future.
