Vol. 477 No. 7

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Austin Deasy

Question:

25 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education when progress will be made on the badly needed extension together with other remedial repairs to Waterpark College, Park Road, Waterford. [10179/97]

The school authorities have recently submitted additional documentation which is required as part of the stage II — outline sketch scheme — planning for the extension and refurbishment works to the school. This documentation is now being examined by the Department's technical staff.

When the examination has been completed, the school will be authorised to proceed to the next stage of the planning process, which is the developed sketch scheme.

Architectural planning will proceed until the project is ready to go to tender. At that point, a decision on further progress will be taken in the light of available resources. It is not possible to say at this stage when construction will start.
