Vol. 477 No. 7

Written Answers. - Assistant Examiner Appointments.

Micheál Martin

Question:

119 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education the regulations, if any, she has made requiring those appointed as assistant examiners in history in the certificate examinations to have a university qualification in the subject. [10324/97]

Assistant examiners for the certificate examinations are appointed by the Examinations Branch of my Department on the recommendation of chief examiners. Assistant examiners in history are graduates in the subject. In addition, they all have experience of teaching the subject to leaving certificate or junior certificate level as appropriate.
