Vol. 478 No. 1

Written Answers. - Recreational Facilities Scheme.

Mary Wallace

Question:

153 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Education the swimming pool locations where national lottery funding has been received from her Department in each of the past five years; the amount of money provided to each project; if similar funding will be available for the proposed swimming pool project for Ashbourne in County Meath; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10544/97]

As the provision of swimming pools is primarily a matter for the Department of the Environment only a limited number of swimming pool projects, which are mainly part of sports complexes, have been included in my Department's national lottery funded sports capital programme. I am circulating a list of these cases in the Official Report.

My Department is prepared to consider an application in respect of a swimming pool project in Ashbourne, County Meath when the next round of grant allocations are being made.

Currently, there are in excess of 1,200 applications on hand seeking funding under the sports capital programme with limited funds available for allocation in 1997.

Swimming Pool Projects included in the Sports Capital Programme and where a Payment or Part Payment (Apart from Athlone Regional Centre) was made during the last five years.
