166 Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Education when a decision will be made on an application from Swimworld Development for funding to provide a swimming pool in the Renmore area of Galway under the major sports facility scheme; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10630/97]
I can confirm that my Department has received an application for grant assistance from Swimworld Limited. The application is one of over one thousand applications on hand seeking funding under the sports capital programme.
Only a limited number of swimming pool projects have been funded under the programme. However, this application will be considered when decisions are being made on grant allocations this year and in the context of the limited funds available for allocation in 1997.
