Vol. 478 No. 2

Written Answers. - Roads Funding.

Michael Bell

Question:

80 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the continuing delay in finalising the plans for the Drogheda by-pass; when he will receive the report from the inspector; when he expects to make the necessary ministerial order in order that this important project can proceed to the next stage; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10861/97]

The inspector's report on the public local inquiry into Meath County Council's Northern Motorway (Gormanston-Monasterboice) scheme, 1995 and the associated bridge order application have been submitted to me and are under consideration. In view of my quasi-judicial role in the completion of the necessary statutory processes, it would not be appropriate for me to comment further at this stage. I hope to make a decision at an early date.
