Question:

45 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health the cost of uniforms issued by his Department or authorities under the aegis of his Department for each of the years from 1994 to l996; if he will give a breakdown of such costs; the level, volume and value of stock in store; if he will give details of the quality of materials used; the feedback, if any, there has been on the comfort and benefit to the users of the uniforms; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Limerick East): The cost of uniforms issued by my Department in the years 1994 to 1996 was as follows:

Uniforms issued by my Department are purchased through the Government Supplies Agency and my Department does not itself maintain any stock of uniforms. My Department is not aware of any complaints about the quality, comfort or benefit to the users of the uniforms issued by it.
The issuing of uniforms to the staff of authorities under the aegis of my Department is among the day to day administrative functions of those authorities and information in relation to uniforms issued by them is not available in my Department.
