Vol. 478 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

99 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will direct the payment of a grant to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that the delay is causing financial hardship. [10965/97]

I understand that the person concerned has applied to her local Leader group for a grant under the Leader programme.

The Leader programme is administered by approved groups who have the decision making authority in relation to the grant aiding of projects in their areas. Decisions are made by the groups in accordance with the priorities of the business plans which they have drawn up and in compliance with operating rules drawn up by my Department.

The person concerned should contact her local Leader group again for advice on the progress of the application.
