Question:

146 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Education if she will immediately approve a reading unit for children with specific learning difficulties in view of the very special circumstances pertaining to their school (details supplied) in Dublin 24; if she will put in place the resources required to establish and sustain the reading unit; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11213/97]

The authorities at the school in question have recently applied to my Department for the establishment of a special class for children with specific learning difficulties. This application is currently being considered by my Department's primary inspectorate.Once the inspectorate has reported, a decision will be made on the application.
