Vol. 478 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Tony Killeen

Question:

160 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Education if she will review the school transport arrangements for children (details supplied) in County Clare who are either delivered to school in excess of one hour before official opening or similarly delayed on the homeward journey. [11307/97]

In the organisation of primary school transport services, routes are planned in such a way to ensure, as far as possible, that travelling and waiting times do not exceed 1½ hours daily. The service to which the Deputy refers has a first pick-up time of 8.20 a.m. and last set-down of 4.50 p.m. Children on this route who are collected first in the morning are delivered home first in the evening. The pupils concerned have a level of service within my Department's guidelines.
