Joe Walsh

Question:

169 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Education if she will have the necessary improvement works carried out to Ard Scoil Phobail, Bantry, County Cork; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11454/97]

An extension is currently being planned for Ardscoil Phobal, Bheanntrai. A design team has been appointed for this project and the stage 1 submission i.e. outline sketch scheme has been examined by the Department's technical staff. A planning and briefing meeting for this project will be convened shortly.

Reports concerning the condition of the windows and roof at Ardscoil Phobal, Bhranntrai, have been examined by the Department's technical staff and the Department's senior architect also inspected the school. A letter issued to the school authorities on 22 April 1997 requesting the preparation of tender documentation for the works involved. It will be necessary for the tender documentation to be submitted to the Department for approval prior to the invitation of tenders.
