Vol. 478 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Noel Treacy

Question:

223 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a suckler cow grant and quota have not been paid and allocated to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; the reason for the delay in this regard; when the relevant decision will be taken; if he will give details of the decision to be taken; the amount to be paid; the amount of quota to be allocated; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11273/97]

The person named has one suckler cow quota right and he is not an applicant for an allocation from the 1997 national reserve.

He applied for one grant under the 1996 suckler premium scheme. He was paid an advance of £112.18 on 4 November 1996 and the balance of £28.05 on 19 March 1997.

He also applied for one grant under the 1995 suckler cow premium scheme and was paid in full —£136.70 — on 26 April 1996. However, when this 1995 application was returned to him to amend obvious errors he added an extra tag number to the suckler cow section of the form. This extra animal could not be considered for payment as it did not form part of the original application nor did he have a quota right for the animal in question.
