Question:138 Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when the last instalment of a 1996 suckler cow premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Galway. [11536/97]

The person named applied for seven grants under the 1996 suckler cow premium scheme and she was paid an advance of £785.28 on 25 November 1996. Due to an error on her 1996 area aid application, the payment of the balance of the grant has been delayed. The problem has now been resolved to my Department's satisfaction and she will be paid the outstanding amount within ten days.

Question:139 Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when all outstanding livestock grants for 1995 and 1996 will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway. [11537/97]
The person named applied under the 1995 suckler cow scheme and was paid his full entitlement of £273.40 on 22 January 1996. He was paid his full entitlement of £58.58 under the 1995 extensification premium scheme on 23 May 1996. While he applied under the 1995 cattle headage scheme, his 1995 area aid application showed that his total forage area amounted to 2.77 hectares. Clause 9 (i) of the terms and conditions governing this scheme requires that herdowners must ‘occupy and farm at least three hectres of utilised agricultural land...' in order to be eligible under the scheme. As the persons named failed to comply with this requirement, he is not entitled to any grant under the 1995 cattle headage scheme.
The person named applied under the 1996 suckler cow scheme and received his full entitlement of £280.46 on 15 April 1997. He applied under the 1996 cattle headage scheme and received his full entitlement of £172.00 on 13 November 1996. He will receive his full entitlement of £60.12 under the 1996 extensification premium in May 1997.

The person named applied under the 1996 suckler cow scheme and was paid his full entitlement of £420.69 on 20 February 1997. He also applied under the 1996 cattle headage scheme. However, as he failed to comply with Clause 20 of the terms and conditions governing this scheme which requires that ‘each producer must have submitted a 1996 area aid application in order to receive grants', he is not entitled to any headage grants under this scheme. Neither is he entitled to 1996 extensification premium because of his failure to submit a 1996 area aid application.
