Vol. 478 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

161 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when payment of the £50 premium will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [11737/97]

The person named submitted an application on 17 August 1996 in respect of one animal under the BSE package of measures for bulls slaughtered in licensed meat export premises in the period 25 March 1996 to 9 June 1996. I am making arrangements to have his entitlement of £50 paid to him within the next week.

Question:

164 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the changes, if any, which have been brought about in relation to the weight of heifers qualifying for BSE compensation in view of the situation of a person (details supplied). [11740/97]

My Department is unable to trace any application from the person named under the 1996 or 1997 BSE compensation package in respect of finished heifers sold through livestock marts or in respect of heifers slaughtered in licensed meat export premises and licensed abattoirs.

The weight limit for finished heifers sold through livestock marts and qualifying for payments under the 1997 BSE compensation package remains at 450 kgs. i.e. similar to the 1996 BSE compensation package. This weight limit does not apply to finished heifers slaughtered at licensed meat premises.
