Vol. 478 No. 6

Local Government (Planning and Development) (Amendment) Bill, 1997: First Stage.

I move:

That leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the Local Government (Planning and Development) Acts, 1963 to 1993.

Is this Bill opposed?

Question put and agreed to.

Since this is a Private Members' Bill, Second Stage must, under Standing Orders, be taken in Private Members' time.

I move: "That Second Stage be taken in Private Members' time."

When the Government is returned to office I hope it will advance the Bill as a matter of urgency.

Will the Taoiseach agree to make Government time available as the Deputy cannot avail of the opportunity to introduce the Bill in Private Members' time?

He will in a couple of weeks.

Question put and agreed to.
