Question:65 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health if he will have investigations made into the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has not received a redundancy payment from the Southern Health Board. [11770/97]

Limerick East): The management of health services, including the employment of staff, is a matter, in the first instance, for each health agency.
The person to whom the Deputy refers retired from her employment in April this year. She is now seeking to have her retirement deemed as being on the grounds of ill-health. The Southern Health Board is obliged to establish that any person considering resignation on health grounds is suffering from permanent infirmity. An appointment with the occupational health physician for the board has been scheduled for the person concerned on 6 May 1997. The board will give further consideration to the matter on receipt of the doctor's report. The Deputy will understand that it would be inappropriate for me to comment further at this time.
