Vol. 478 No. 6

Written Answers. - Departmental Funding.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

68 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Health if he will consider favourably a request from the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association to his Department for funding from sources other than the national lottery. [11775/97]

Limerick East): Voluntary organisations providing services to people with disabilities, such as the Motor Neurone Disease Association, are funded through the health boards. Funding is provided in respect of services being provided by the organisation. I suggest, therefore, that the association make an application to its local health board.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

69 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Health if, further to Question No. 86 of 11 March 1997, the amount of funding to be made available to an organisation (details supplied) in County Donegal has been determined; and if so, whether he will make a statement on the matter. [11776/97]

Limerick East): As the Deputy is aware, funding for voluntary organisations involved in the provision of HIV-AIDS services in the North-Western Health Board area is a matter for the board in the first instance.

The board submitted a request recently for extra funding towards its HIV and AIDS services which included an application for further grant aid to AIDS Help North West. My Department is currently considering this latest request and will be in touch shortly with the board regarding its allocation for these services.
