Vol. 478 No. 7

Request to Move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

An Leas-Cheann Comhairle

Before the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 in the name of Deputy Andrews. I call on Deputy Andrews to state the matter of which he has given notice.

I seek the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss the following urgent and important matter, namely, the announcement by the Minister for Tourism and Trade of 2,000 jobs for the area surrounding Horan International Airport in east Mayo when it appears there is no factual basis for the declaration; and the disclosure of other errors in the Minister's claims, particularly in relation to tax designation.

An Leas-Cheann Comhairle

Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be one contemplated by the Standing Order. Therefore, leave cannot be granted to move the motion.

I do not wish to take up unnecessary time, but will the Chair tell me how I might pursue this matter?

An Leas-Cheann Comhairle

The Adjournment Debate might be an appropriate mechanism.
