Vol. 478 No. 7

Written Answers - Disabilities Report.

John Ellis

Question:

100 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Health if he will provide the necessary funding to implement the recommendations of the Commission on the Status of People with Disabilities. [12300/97]

Limerick East): The Government decided, on publication of the report of the Commission on the Status of People with Disabilities, to establish a monitoring committee comprising representatives of Government Departments, social partners, organisations representing people with disabilities, their families, carers and service providers to monitor the implementation of the Commission's recommendations, including the health care and employment recommendations which are the responsibility of my Department. This is subject, in the first instance, to the submission to Government of a programme of measures to be implemented which is being drawn up by an inter-departmental task force, chaired by the Department of Equality and Law Reform, on which my Department is represented. This task force is due to submit its detailed action plan by 30 June 1997.
