Local Government (Financial Provisions) Bill, 1997: Financial Resolution.

I move:

That, for the purpose of any Act of the present session to enable local authorities to enjoy the revenues from duties charged under the Finance (Excise Duties) (Vehicles) Act, 1952, and from duties and fees charged under certain other enactments, to remove the power of local authorities to make certain charges and to provide for related matters, it is expedient to provide for the making of such charges as consist of the amount of duties or fees aforesaid that are required to be paid into a fund established by such an Act and which may be paid out of such a fund by, or on behalf of, the Minister for the purpose of defraying the expenses incurred by the Minister in connection with the collection of motor vehicle tax or matters related thereto or in performing any other function provision for the defrayment of the expenses in the performance of which is made by such an Act."
