Vol. 478 No. 7

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

John Connor

Question:

238 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when the remainder of the 1996 suckler cow and beef premia payable to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon will be paid; and when outstanding queries on his area aid application will be finalised and replied to. [12167/97]

On 25 November 1996 the person concerned was paid an 80 per cent advance of £673.10 under the 1996 suckler cow premium scheme, an 80 per cent advance of £288.54 under the 1996 ten month special beef premium scheme and £360.67, representing an 80 per cent advance under the 1996 22 months special beef premium scheme.

There are a number of problems with his 1996 area aid application. One relates to the total claimed area and another involves a parcel where the area declared by the applicant is considerably in excess of the area for that parcel in my Department's land parcel identification system records.

My Department is now writing to him with a view to resolving the discrepancies. Payment of the balances of suckler cow premium and special beef premium is dependent on resolving the problems.
