Vol. 478 No. 7

Written Answers - Sheep Quota.

Noel Treacy

Question:

247 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason an increase in sheep quota has not been granted to persons (details supplied) in County Galway; when this will be done; the amount to be allocated in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12284/97]

One of the conditions attaching to the distribution of ewe quota from the 1997 national reserve was that the off-farm income of the applicant, including that of his/her spouse/partner, must not exceed £11,000.

The applicant for an allocation from the ewe quota reserve in this case declared that her spouse/partner had an off-farm income of £12,846. As this exceeds the limit of £11,000, she does not qualify for an allocation of quota from this reserve.
