Vol. 478 No. 7

Written Answers - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

John Ellis

Question:

250 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if his Department will pay the balance of premium and REP scheme payments due to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [12301/97]

The payment of balances to the person concerned under the 1996 special beef and suckler cow premium schemes has been delayed due to problems with his area aid application. My Department wrote to him in connection with the matter on 2 May 1997 and a response is awaited.

As regards the REP scheme, the applicant's second year application was subject to a compliance check and a mapping error was discovered on the agri-environmental plan. An official from my Department visited the applicant's farm recently and is preparing a report on the matter. The Department will then notify the applicant of the outcome of the report.

Question:

251 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made to issue payment of a REP scheme premium to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [12302/97]

The applicant recently submitted his claim for second year payment to his local office, where it is now being processed. Assuming that everything is in order, payment will issue as soon as possible.
