Question:

120 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the number of acres and percentage of land in each county which it is proposed to designate as special areas of conservation. [12631/97]

The figures available at this stage are estimates which, because of the method of estimation used and the inclusion of some areas in lakes, rivers and sea, are likely to overstate the extent of these areas. Subject to these qualifications, details are set out in the following table:
