Vol. 479 No. 2

Written Answers. - Northern Motorway Scheme.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

159 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment if he will announce the decision regarding a proposal by Fingal County Council to construct a bridge with support pillars in the Broadmeadow Estuary Wildlife Reserve, Swords, County Dublin, before or after the general election; and when this announcement will be made. [12937/97]

The issues raised by Fingal County Council's northern motorway scheme — Airport to Balbriggan By-Pass — and the associated environmental impact statement are complex and require careful consideration in the light of the written submissions and objections and the inspector's report on the public local inquiry. There will be no undue delay on my part in coming to a decision.
