161 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for the Environment the reason he will not allow preparation of a brief for the Carrickmacross water supply augmentation scheme, County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12953/97]

A brief for the Carrickmacross water supply augmentation scheme has been submitted to my Department but, given the existing high level of commitments under the water and sewerage programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve the proposal.
