Vol. 479 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Liam Aylward

Question:

219 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education if she will review the situation to retain the existing five teachers in view of the increased enrolment at Paulstown national school, County Kilkenny, which will be fully justified by the increased numbers (details supplied) enrolling in September 1997; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12766/97]

Paulstown national school was due to lose its fourth assistant teacher at the end of the current school year.

However, the school has been allowed to retain provisionally its fourth assistant's post because the enrolment projected for September next cannot be managed within recommended maximum class size guidelines.
The situation at the school will be reviewed in September 1997.
