Vol. 479 No. 2

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Tony Gregory

Question:

250 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice the response of the gardaí to the reasonable request of a residents' association (details supplied) in Dublin 7. [12721/97]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the concerns of the residents' association have been brought to the attention of all personnel in Cabra Station by the district officer who has directed that the area in question be patrolled intensively, especially at night. Members have been instructed to implement the provisions of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, 1994 in relation to youths gathering in the area. Checkpoints and speed checks will be carried out to deal with as in the area and offenders will be dealt with as appropriate. The gardaí will continue to maintain regular contract with the residents' association and all concerns brought to their attention will be dealt with.
