Vol. 479 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Frank Crowley

Question:

324 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a decision will be made regarding an appeal in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [12612/97]

An appeal in respect of the her-downer's 1996 cattle headage scheme application was received in headage and premia appeals unit in March 1997.

Examination of the appeal will be concluded as soon as possible and the herdowner will be notified of the outcome in due course.

Appeals are dealt with in the order in which they are received and there will be no undue delay in processing the appeal in respect of this herdowner.

Question:

325 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made to pay the balance of a suckler cow premium to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [12613/97]

The person concerned was paid his 1996 suckler cow premium advance of £2,131.49 on 25 November 1996. He has not yet received his balancing payment because of checks and controls associated with the land parcel identification system (LPIS). The LPIS involves digitising all land parcels submitted by farmers in order to provide a database whereby land parcels being claimed for area aid purposes can be located, identified and have area values and land use attributed.

My Department has written to the person concerned in an effort to have the outstanding problems sorted out with a view to having payment made at the earliest opportunity.

Question:

326 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made to pay the balance of 1995 and 1996 headage payments and premia to a person (details supplied). [12614/97]

The person named will be paid her 1996 cattle headage and suckler cow premium grants within a week.

Applications for grants under the 1995 cattle headage scheme and 1995 suckler cow premium scheme were received under this herdnumber from a person other than the current registered herdowner. Payments of £597.20 cattle headage grants and £492.12 suckler cow grants were made to that person on 18 October and 1 November 1995 respectively. A balancing payment of £328.08 under the 1995 suckler cow scheme issued on 24 January 1996 was returned uncashed as the payee was deceased.

My Department is currently in correspondence with solicitors acting for the current registered herdowner with a view to finalising legal requirements before payment of the outstanding amount can be made.
