Vol. 479 No. 2

Written Answers. - Leader Funding.

Joe Walsh

Question:

330 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the percentage of Leader funding in each of the Leader companies which goes to agriculture-related projects. [12635/97]

The Leader programme is administered by approved local action groups who implement business plans which they have drawn up for the development of their areas. In their business plans the groups have allocated a total of 14 per cent of total budgets — or approximately £10.3 million to the category of "exploitation and marketing of agricultural, forestry and fisheries products". The allocation of funding within this heading is a matter for the groups themselves.
