Vol. 479 No. 2

Written Answers. - Farm Retirement Scheme.

Mary Wallace

Question:

333 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will assist the approval of a farm retirement pension for a person (details supplied) in County Meath who is aged over 80, whose wife has just reached the age of 66 and who has been told that the application for the pension should have been received before both he and his wife reached their 66 birthdays; if an application can be accepted in these circumstances in view of the fact that this person did not know about this aspect of the regulations and that both he and his wife are currently debarred from applying in view of the fact that they are both over 66; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12655/97]

As stated in my reply to Question No. 285 on 15 April 1997 the scheme is confined to persons between their 55th and 66th birthdays.
