404 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Marine whether a meeting at ministerial level will take place between him and the new Minister with responsibility for the Foyle Commission area to inform the new Minister of the current legislative changes which are being made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The drafting of legislation required in both jurisdictions to implement a number of recommendations of the review of the Foyle Fisheries Commission is at an advanced stage and is the subject of regular consultation between the two sponsoring Departments north and south.
The first appropriate opportunity will be taken to discuss progress on this matter, and on fisheries issues generally, with the new Minister for Agriculture in Northern Ireland.
