Question:

40 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Taoiseach the amount of beef, lamb, pork and poultry meats imported into Ireland in each of the years from 1995 to date in 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12541/97]

The latest month for which information is available is November 1996. The following table provides details of imports for 1995 and for the 11-month period January-November 1996:

Overall, approximately 7 per cent of trade is classified by commodity. The unclassified trade includes low value transactions, Shannon Free Airport trade, and some Intra-EU estimates.
