Vol. 479 No. 2

Written Answers. - Health Service Vacancies.

John Ellis

Question:

95 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Health the vacancies, if any, which exist under the aegis of his Department for people with diplomas in disabilities resource work. [12628/97]

Limerick East): Current personnel policy for the health service provides that health agencies which are managing resources within allocation may fill replacement non-consultant posts without recourse to the Department of Health and details of all vacancies in health agencies are not available in the Department. While the recruitment and deployment of staff is therefore primarily a matter for the individual health agencies the Department does not specify that a diploma in disability studies is a requirement for any particular post in the health services or indeed within the Department itself.
