Vol. 479 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dialysis Service.

Austin Deasy

Question:

98 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Health if he will provide for the dialysis unit at Waterford regional hospital to operate on a 24 hour basis to ensure that local patients are catered for and will not have to travel to Dublin for treatment; and if the needs of a person (details supplied) will be catered for in Waterford. [12712/97]

Limerick East): The kidney dialysis unit at Waterford regional hospital will extend its opening hours shortly to cater for patients currently on the waiting list and I understand that the person referred to by the Deputy will be facilitated; £100,000 has been provided in 1997 to extend this service.
