Dáil Éireann debate -

Vol. 480 No. 3

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Spring.

In accordance with Standing Order 31 I wish to raise the following matter — that Dáil Éireann be adjourned to enable the Taoiseach to outline the steps he will take to provide Dáil Éireann with full disclosure of any other contributions from business circles to the former Taoiseach, Charles J. Haughey, and the potential such contributions had to influence Government policy in view of the admissions to the tribunal of inquiry on 9 July 1997 by the former Taoiseach that he received £1.3 million from Mr. Ben Dunne, which had been denied until yesterday.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be contemplated by Standing Order 31. Therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
