Vol. 480 No. 3

Written Answers - Hospitals Funding.

Michael Creed

Question:

61 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Health if he will make adequate funding available to Mallow General Hospital to ensure that adult and child patients are accommodated in separate wards. [14133/97]

The provision of health services at Mallow General Hospital and the determination of priorities for the development of the hospital are matters for the Southern Health Board in the first instance.

In this context my Department has in recent years provided significant additional capital funding for the development of out-patient, laboratory, physiotherapy and up-grading of the in-patient accommodation in the hospital in response to the board's priorities. The question of further developments at the hospital is firstly a matter for the Southern Health Board and my Department will continue to respond to the priorities identified by the board as sympathetically as possible.
