Vol. 480 No. 3

Written Answers - Cheshire Homes Funding.

Noel Ahern

Question:

62 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of the reductions in funding made to the Cheshire Homes in the past two years which have forced them to levy charges of £100 per week on people availing of their respite beds; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14144/97]

There has been no reduction in funding to Cheshire Homes in the last two years. Indeed, significant increases in revenue funding totalling £558,000 in 1996 and 1997 have been granted. Some homes have introduced a contribution of up to £100 per week for respite care. This applies to a small number of clients who are not medical card holders and whose means enable them to make a contribution.
