Question:

153 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Defence if he or Ministers of State at his Department have appointed a programme manager or a special adviser or both; if so, the salary paid to them; the terms of their contracts; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15005/97]

I have appointed a special adviser who is a civil servant in receipt of a salary of £36,757 per annum. In his capacity as my special adviser he receives an additional allowance of £3,676. I have not appointed a programme manager.

The Minister of State at the Department has not appointed a programme manager or a special adviser.
