Vol. 480 No. 6

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

165 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when persons (details supplied) in County Mayo will be approved for a Leader II grant in view of the fact that they applied some time ago. [14293/97]

The Leader programme is administered at local level by approved groups who have the decision making authority in relation to individual projects falling within their business plans and in accordance with operating rules drawn up by my Department. Under these rules grant payments may only be made on completion of an approved project when the promoter has submitted a fully documented claim and following an inspection by the Leader group to ensure the satisfactory completion of the project, etc. The persons, details supplied, would have been made aware of these conditions when they applied for Leader funding. They should get in touch directly with the Leader group concerned to ensure that the payment formalities are completed.
