Vol. 480 No. 6

Written Answers - Local Improvements Scheme.

Willie Penrose

Question:

347 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he intends to increase substantially the amount of funding for local improvements schemes in view of the outstanding return from these schemes on a cost benefit analysis; if he will increase the amount allocated to Westmeath County Council from £ 50,000 to £ 100,000 in view of the increased demand for this scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14543/97]

Grants under the local improvements scheme for 1997 have been fully allocated to local authorities. Allocations in 1998, including that to Westmeath County Council, will be determined in the light of the overall resources available.
