Vol. 480 No. 6

Written Answers - Prisoner Transfers.

Tony Gregory

Question:

474 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will have arrangements made for the transfer of a prisoner (details supplied) from Cork Prison to Wheatfield Prison in view of the fact that his mother has great difficulty visiting him in Cork. [14493/97]

The prisoner referred to by the Deputy is serving a five year sentence for robbery since 12 May 1994 and with standard remission is due for release on 7 July 1998. I have approved a transfer for him to Wheatfield place of detention. The transfer will take place as soon as a suitable vacancy arises there.
