Vol. 480 No. 6

Written Answers - Departmental Costs.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

538 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the cost of changing the name and responsibilities of his Department; if such expense will be borne from internal savings or by Supplementary Estimate; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14851/97]

The establishment of my Department has involved the transfer of functions, staff and resources between the Departments of the Taoiseach and Education, the former Departments of Enterprise and Employment and Tourism and Trade, and the former Office of the Tánaiste.

While some organisational and logistical matters have still to be finalised, including the cost involved, at this point I remain confident that all costs associated with the process will be met from internal savings and that no Supplementary Estimate will be required for this purpose.
