Vol. 480 No. 6

Written Answers - Overseas Aid.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

81 Mrs. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the proposals, if any, he has to visit countries in which there are Irish Aid development projects. [14748/97]

As soon as the requirements of my schedule permit, I would like to visit one or more of the priority countries in Africa to which Ireland is providing development assistance. However, Minister of State, Deputy O'Donnell, who has special responsibility for Overseas Development Assistance and Human Rights, has just completed a five day visit to Zambia, an important priority country for the Irish Aid Programme. A further visit to another priority country is envisaged before the end of 1997 and visits to the remaining priority countries will take place in due course.
