Question:

99 Mr. Farrelly asked the Taoiseach if he or Ministers of State at his Department have appointed a programme manager or a special adviser or both; if so, the salary paid to them; the terms of their contracts; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15002/97]

The Taoiseach:

I have appointed Mr. Gerry Hickey as programme manager and special adviser at a salary of £82,715 p.a.

In addition, Ms Katharine Bulbulia, who has been appointed as programme manager to the Tánaiste, is based in my Department. She receives a salary of £53,477 p.a.

The following have been appointed as special advisers¹:

¹ No programme manager or special adviser have been appointed by the Chief Whip at my Department.

Contracts for the staff listed are in the process of being finalised and will in due course be laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas in accordance with the Ethics in Public Office Act, 1995.
