Written Answers. - Ministerial Appointments.

Ivor Callely

Question:

144 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance if he will issue a full list of names of all appointments and the State organisation to which the appointments were made in relation to each appointment made to bodies under the aegis of his Department during the months of May and June 1997; the period of the appointment; and the date on which the next appointments will be made for each body. [15389/97]

Mary Hanafin

Question:

145 Ms Hanafin asked the Minister for Finance the number of appointments made to boards or bodies under the aegis of his Department between 1 May 1997 and 26 June 1997; the names of the appointees; the boards to which they were appointed; and the number of board vacancies which remained vacant after 26 June, but which could have been filled prior to 26 June. [15564/97]

I propose taking Questions Nos. 144 and 145 together.

The only appointments made to boards or bodies under the aegis of my Department during the months of May and June 1997 were to the Valuation Tribunal. On 25 June 1997 my predecessor appointed the following members for a period of three years:

Ms Anita Geraghty;

Ms Anne Hargaden;

Mr. George McDonnell.

As vacancies are determined at the discretion of the Minister it is not possible to say when the next appointments will occur.

On 26 June 1997 there were two vacancies on the board of the ACC Bank arising from the rotation of board members. These vacancies existed since the AGM on 30 April 1997. Both of these vacancies were filled on Monday, 6 October 1997.
