Question:

148 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Finance the proposals, if any, he has to fund, in full, the excel project in Tipperary town. [15652/97]

I propose to answer Questions Nos. 147 and 148 together.

The designation of areas for urban renewal purposes is primarily a matter for the Minister for Environment and Local Government. I have not received any proposals to include Tipperary town in the urban renewal scheme. I did receive a request to meet a deputation from Tipperary SR County Council to discuss the creation of enterprise areas in County Tipperary. You may be aware that enterprise areas are currently being reviewed in the European Commission. With regard to the excel project, I understand that the issue is primarily a matter for the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands.
