Vol. 481 No. 1

Written Answers. - Remedial Works Scheme.

Willie Penrose

Question:

176 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the current position regarding an application from Westmeath County Council for a remedial work scheme for Ennell Court, Mullingar, the application for which is with his Department since February 1995 and has been costed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15366/97]

The council requested funding under the remedial works scheme for works to houses at this estate in February 1995. The works then proposed did not qualify for funding under the terms of the scheme. The council were advised accordingly in March 1995.

Following discussions between technical officers of the council and my Department, revised proposals were received last April. However, it was necessary to seek further information from the council and this is awaited. When the information is received, the application will be examined in the context of the funding available for works under the remedial works scheme in 1998 and the competing demands of authorities.
