Appointment of Member of Government.

I wish to announce for the information of Dáil Éireann that, first, having informed a commission, constituted as provided in section 2 of Article 14 of the Constitution, that Dáil Éireann approved my nomination of Deputy Michael Smith to be a Member of the Government, the commission yesterday appointed him accordingly, second, I have assigned the Department of Foreign Affairs to Deputy David Andrews, third, I have assigned the Department of Defence to Deputy Michael Smith, and, fourth, the Government today appointed Deputy Noel Treacy as Minister of State at the Department of Education and Science and at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment with special responsibility for science and technology.
