Committee of Selection: Motion.

I move:

(1) That the Order of the Dáil of 10 July 1997, relating to the appointment of the Committee of Selection is hereby rescinded; and

(2) that the Standing Orders of Dáil Éireann relative to Public Business are hereby amended by —

(a) the deletion of Standing Order 90;

(b) the deletion of ‘nominated by the Committee of Selection' in Standing Order 84(2) and the substitution therefor of ‘appointed';

(c) the deletion of ‘to be nominated by the Committee of Selection' in Standing Orders 101(2) and 134(1);

(d) the insertion, in Standing Order 108(3), after ‘appointment of Committees,' of ‘appointment of members to, and removal of members from, Committees'; and

(e) the deletion of paragraph (2) of Standing Order 134 and the substitution therefor of the following paragraph:

‘(2) Additional members, not exceeding three in number, may be appointed to the Select Committee on a Consolidation Bill for the purpose of considering any particular Bill committed to the Standing Joint Committee.'.
